I believe that humans are capable of much larger transformations than many of us may think. But when we look at a large jump (ie monolingual to bilingual; rags to riches), getting there can easily feel impossible.
That’s why I want to draw attention to the slow behind-the-scenes. Transformations and learning happen day by day, moment by moment, bit by bit.
Nothing happens overnight. We’ve all heard that phrase before, right? But when we look around, do we see the words in action? Often it can take multiple (numerous!) instances of exposure to an idea—over great lengths of time—before you even take the smallest action towards it.
So the purpose of this documentation gallery is to show you my long journeys. We see too many highlight reels and “as featured on” on websites. Instead, I want to put the spotlight on the humble beginnings, the messy in-betweens, the slow starts, the large gaps of silence, and the random encounters that can move everything an inch forward.
Below are various interests, skills, and qualities in different stages, tracked as best I could from “the beginning.” This is by no means every interaction with each topic, just the ones that stuck to mind. Besides, when you think about it, each moment of our entire lives has had a hand in shaping the journey.
Want to share your own bit-by-bit journey? We’d love to see it in the community!
