In December, a friend asked if I would do a painting for her—so she could gift it to her dad for the holidays. It was of their family dog, Buddy, who had recently passed. Here’s the final painting:

The hardest part for me was probably that the ears were cut off in the image, so I googled photos of the breed and imagined what they might look like.
I painted Buddy a year after my first commissioned piece, which just so happened to also be a dog—Frankie:
It’s funny that my first two paid pieces were dogs, because they were also the first two dog paintings I’d done!
